A garden previously turfed over was turned into a mini woodland oasis filled with ferns, grasses, tall herbaceous perennials and wildflowers. Entirely cat-friendly plants were used, including a wildflower mix designed for use with pets in the garden. As well as pebbles in the path with interplanted erigeron and tiarella, wildflowers were sown into the sand beneath the pebbles to provide a softening of the harder surfaces in time. Bark mulch was used as a soil covering and also to create a winding, secondary pathway through the planting which will grow up in time and provide more of an immersive height with rudbeckias, verbena, gaura and grasses. Cercis canadensis ‘Eternal Flame’ provides beautiful autumn colour alongside spring blossom.
